I take my photography seriously, I've owned several point and shoots, most recently, the DSC W220 and Canon SD1200IS.
Each of them had great features, but after a great month of shooting, I must say I really adore the FZ35! Amazon gave me a great price on the FZ35, shipped it for free in a timely manner, and now I'm a happy camper! If it is something that you have been considering, now might be the best time to buy the fz35!
When I first took the Panasonic FZ35 out of the box. it seemed more compact than in the pictures. i was also pleasantly surprised at how light it is. I own an SLR, and as I mentioned, some point and shoots, and the FZ35 weighs somewhere in between the two.
While the FZ35may be lightweight, I am impressed with the build quality. It definitely seems sturdy enough, but I wouldn't be too rough with it. A little well placed sillicone on the housing would be welcomed.
The powerup on the Panasonic FZ35 is almost instantaneous! VERY fast. Faster than any of my other point and shoots. Controls are simple and intuitive and the mini joystick is perfect for on the fly adjustments while using manual and scene modes.
You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out the menus, although I must admit peeking at the manual a couple of times.
I have really appreciated the Intelligent Auto function, as it provides superior picture quality. although I like to play around with it myself, as well.
The battery was still ging strong past 300 stills and 37 clips, so I am thrilled with it! I used the LCD display for the majority of the shots.
I bought a spare battery; Lenmar DLP006 Lithium-ion Digital Camera/Camcorder Battery, and it works to every bit as well as the Panasonic battery that came with the camera. The EVF or Electronic View Finder, is also a terrific feature of theFZ35camera
I particularly like the Extra Zoom function. It allows you to shoot at lower resolutions and maximize the zooming power of the camera.
The Panasonic FZ35 features a LCD screen that is bright and well defined, however, it does not fare as well in bright light. Again, it is a good thing that the FZ35 has the electronic view finder feature.
Image stabilization is a work of art, and is very effective in low light as well as full zoom. I could take indoor pictures at night with a simple tweak of the exposure, which came as a pleasant surprise.
